A idéia original de ‘Rent a Local Friend’ foi concebida por Alice, uma jornalista brasileira que logo compreendeu que o encanto de conhecer novos lugares era justamente entrar em contato com o espírito local dos habitantes, cultura, gastronomia e suas jóias secretas.

Durante suas viagens, Alice notou que estas experiências genuínas, desfrutadas sob a perspectiva de um local, tornavam a viagem muito mais rica e completa. A possibilidade de conhecer e viver a cidade como um “local adotado” era definitivamente uma maneira fantástica de viajar
Logo percebeu a aceitação imediata e entusiasmada de viajantes do mundo todo, que abraçaram a idéia deste conceito alternativo de viajar,

Assim, resolveu convidar alguns de seus amigos, que compartilhavam a mesma maneira de pensar e explorar os aspectos interessantes por detrás de cada cenas aparentemente corriqueira.
Estes amigos, passaram então a convidar os seus próprios amigos…E hoje o projeto tem mais de 50 participantes espalhados em mais de 33 cidades pelo mundo.

Os amigos locais são profissionais liberais: jornalistas, designers, fotógrafos, publicitários que adoram trocar experiencias e conhecer outras culturas. Amam sua cidade e divertem-se em mostra-la para visitantes do mundo todo.
